What is Standing Tall?

There is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to getting help. The help and support that you might want may come in many different forms. You might need help with legal advice, court appearances, practical help for you and your children, peer support or counselling and therapy.

Standing Tall is a partnership of local community groups and organisations that have come together to provide a range of local support to people in Torbay who have experienced domestic abuse or sexual violence.

The partnership was formed out of the Torbay Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Community Forum and was funded initially by the Ministry of Justice Extra-ordinary Fund via the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Standing Tall aims to provide a range of services that understand domestic abuse and sexual violence and its impact on an individual and their family. They can help you find the support you know you want and the help that you might not know you need.

How we support you through Standing Tall

Our role in Standing Tall is to provide a safe haven that enables you to discuss your situation without fear of judgement. Our qualified, insured, and DBS checked practitioners are here to support and help you access all services in our community.

Following your initial assessment, you will be contacted by Angie Manning or one of her team to discuss your needs and what support we can provide for you.

Should you choose adult talking therapy, we will arrange 6 sessions at our clinic in central Paignton.

Over the next few pages, you can see and choose which therapist you would like to work with.

Remember, these sessions are yours alone, and you can do with them what you wish, including changing your practitioner.
