What is Multiple Sclerosis?

MS is a long-lasting disease affecting the brain, spinal chord, and optic nerves. Multiple Sclerosis can cause problems with balance, vision and muscle control.

Causes of MS are unknown and affect people in different ways. It is considered an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks its own tissue. The immune malfunction destroys the Meylin which protects the nerve fibers in the brain and spinal chord.
