My training as a counsellor started while attaining my degree in Psychology and Counselling (FdSc). I also hold additional certificates in Understanding Autism, Understanding Domestic Violence and Safeguarding. I plan on expanding my education with further training in Social and Therapeutic Intervention (BSc).
During the course of my training and placement I have worked with a wide variety of different clients who all had unique needs and goals. I started by counselling teenagers in a school setting, then moved to working with a charity which provides counselling to adult survivors of domestic abuse before joining the team at the Devon Clinic.
I am proud to offer psychoeducation, giving clients insight into their mental health and empowering them to talk about and start to face their difficulties. I have experience and a special interest in working with individuals suffering with the effects of chronic or long- term conditions. I often find myself reaching towards Inner Child work as a tool to recognise and meet unmet needs.
I was trained as an integrated counsellor, meaning that I learnt to practice many different methods including psychodynamic, person centred and cognitive behavioural therapies. I take a fluid and flexible approach and remaining open to whatever my client may bring whilst adapting tools and methodologies to suit the individual.
