I am Athena, and I offer counselling to anyone in need of being listened to in a space wholly for them.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I can combine different models of counselling. I can therefore offer a flexible approach to my clients, appropriate to what they need. Mainly, I work using both the person-centred and psychodynamic theories of counselling.
A person-centred approach means that together we will explore you as a whole person, led by you. We would look at the challenges you may be having with regard to perceptions of yourself, for example, in the areas of self-worth, self-esteem or identity. We would work towards a stronger sense of identifying and fulfilling your potential.
A psychodynamic approach offers a space to explore your unconscious mind, past, and experiences. Being attentive to these areas of the mind may help to ease difficulties, or help to highlight repeating patterns of behaviours or feelings. We would then work in turn to help alleviate any conflict and pain you may be facing.
I will listen to you in a safe, non-judgmental environment helping to cultivate freedom and joy for your whole self.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP): Registration number 00817335. I abide by the ethical code of conduct given by the BACP.
